Risk reduction, written down

How I work

Hiring a remote engineer is a risk decision. This page is how I de-risk it: a repeatable process where you see working software early, know what every milestone costs, and end up owning everything — code, docs, and the knowledge to run it.

  1. Discovery

A free intro call to understand the problem, constraints, and what success looks like. If I'm not the right fit, I'll say so and point you somewhere better.

    • Problem statement we both sign off on
    • Rough effort + risk estimate
    • Go / no-go recommendation
  2. Architecture proposal

A written plan before any code: system design, data model, trade-offs considered, and what's deliberately out of scope. You know exactly what you're buying.

    • Architecture document with diagrams
    • Milestone breakdown with dates
    • Fixed quote per milestone
  3. Milestone delivery

Working software in review-sized increments — deployed to a staging URL you can click, not screenshots. Every milestone ships with tests and CI from day one.

    • Deployed, testable increment per milestone
    • Automated test suite + CI pipeline
    • Weekly async progress notes
  4. Handover

The goal is that you don't need me — and choose to keep me anyway. Everything documented, your team walked through the system, no lock-in.

    • Runbooks + deployment documentation
    • Recorded walkthrough for your team
    • 30 days of post-handover support

Standing principles

Async-first communication

Written updates you can read on your schedule; calls when they genuinely beat writing. Replies within 24 hours, usually much faster.

No surprises

Scope changes are discussed and re-quoted before work continues — never discovered on an invoice.

Production is the bar

Code isn't done when it runs; it's done when it's tested, observable, documented, and boring to operate.
